Our very own Rex Richards, GB affiliated in Abilene, Texas, scored a great Knock out victory at the las Katana MMA championships, held at Corpus Christi, on the 23rd of August.

It was the main event of the night and Rex, coached by Professor Draculino, showed great octagon control and striking, beating Sunia Filikitonga, from Mohller's academy in Dallas  in the first round.

Rex is a four stripe Brown Belt and learned his great Jiu-Jitsu with Professor Klay Pittman, one of the best coaches and practiocioners in Texas.

Congrats Rex and the Abilene crew for the victory. 

The good results never stops for the GB Texas Jiu-Jitsu academy: 

 Our very own Greg Bellomy and Nick Felder put on a show at the last Ring Rulers MMA event, held in Lousianna, on the 15th of August.

Greg submitted his oponent, Kaleb Britt, via reversed traingle from side control in the first round.

Nick exchanged good punches and kicks in the first round. In the second, he took his oponent, Nathan Dow, down, got the mount position and after raining lots of punches, scored a submission via armbar.

It was a great moment since it was the first time that GB Texas students, originally from Houston, fought in MMA and won by classic BJJ style!

Congrats to our warriors and to Kristin and Pedro Cabalero for the great help on the stand up part.

The Mats of the CAL State University wer packed with talent and GB Texas had good results in the event.

Professor Vinicius Draculino won his division ( Black Belt, Feather weight, Senior1) defeating two oponents.

Marcelo Uirapuru Azevedo won the Medium weight Masters, also on the Black Belt, and placed 3rd on the absolute.

Cristiano TITI, who was training the last weeks with us, got the Bronze Medal on the Super Heavy weight Black Belt.

Claudio Mattos, who is spending some months in the school helping Draculino in the classes, got the Bronze on the Black Belt, Light weight.

Tracy " Captain" Thompson got the Gold on the Super Heavy Purple Belt Senior 3, and the silver medal in the Absolute, Senior 3.

 Leo Cantu, Chris Rivera, Felix Lopes and George Galleano also showed a good performance and more experience in competition will bring lots of good results.

We would like to thank all the students of GB Texas for the great support and friendship. Without you, helping our competitors, no Medal or good results could be archieved.

Due to the no-gi world tournament in California, we will be closed on Saturady, August 9th.

As the weather is not bad, we will have classes in the afternoon, starting with the Juniors classes at 5:45 PM.  See you on the mat

Due to the possibility of heavy rains and even a Level 1 hurricane, the 11:00 AM class will be canceled. The Afternoon and evening classes will happen only if the weather and the conditions are safe enough to do so.

Cristiano Titi, World Champion in 2001, two times panamerican champion, 5-2 in MMA and ADCC veteran is coming to train and teach at GB Texas. He will be at the school from the 4th to the 8th of August.
