We had a great time together at the new Transformer movie. All the kids were wonderful and behaved well representing Gracie Barra like true SAMURI WARRIORS!!! With such a big group we couldn't have asked for a better bunch of kids to attend this event and since they were so well behaved...we will have more events in the future. We would like to thank all the parents that helped us chaperone and we would also like to give a special thanks to Andre Saad, Jade and Igor Magalhaes for helping as well!

Advanced Class-Spider Guard Training
Students must start in spider guard. Guy on bottom wins with a sweep or submission, guy on top wins with a guard pass. Guy on bottom can not close his guard.

Gracie Barra Texas will be chaperoning a movie party at Cinemark 18 for the new movie Transformer 2 , Friday 06/26/09 at  4:40pm  

Wed  06/24/09 we will pass out signature slips that you will need to sign and check mark items you want to pre purchase (Coke, Candy, Popcorn etc) and an envelope for you  to seal and place money in. (Cash Only)

Friday 06/26/09 we will meet at the Gracie Barra at 3:00 pm and leave at 3:30 pm so that we can arrive early enough to find seats together. Parents can drop their kids off and we will provide transportation to the movie and then back to the school. The movie has a 2 hr and 30 min runtime so we will return to the school around 8:00 pm for parents to pick up the kids. Parents are more than welcome to accompany the children and can meet at the school and follow us.

Our brothers from Gracie Barra BH made us proud at the worlds tournament. Romulo Barral took home the Gold in the Medium Heavy Weight Division and the silver in the Absolute division. In the Light Weight Brown Belt Division, Bruno Amorim took more than just the gold home...he also brought back a brand new  Black Belt after being promoted by our Professor Draculino.

New photos up of our trip to California for the Worlds Jiu-Jitsu tournament. Every one did really well and we all had fun. Brent won his first match with an arm bar in 25 seconds and lost his second match by points to a top contender. Jeremiah went on to win two matches before losing to 2nd place winner Ricardo Souza De Rezende. Darrell won his first match decisively before losing by points in his second match. Kristen lost a controversial match to the world champion by points in her first match. Everyone did good and represented Gracie Barra well with their performances.

Four of our own took home medals in the Texas State Greco/Freestyle Wrestling Championships this month under the tutelage of Coach Rivera.  Timmy Thompson took home 2^nd in Greco and 2^nd in Freestyle for the 70 lbs division. (In the Texas State Folkstyle Wrestling Championship Timmy Thompson took home 1st place in the 70 lbs division) Eric Down took 3rd place at 189 lbs and the Rivera brothers both brought home the gold in Greco. Chris Rivera, 1st place winner in the greco 135lb division, couldn't go on to compete in freestyle due to an injury but Daniel went on to take another gold, taking 1st in both greco and freestyle for the 130 pounders. We are very proud of our guys and know they will continue represent us well. Their competitive wrestling has been a huge asset to us and has helped us tremendously in take downs and take down defense in both the kids and adult classes!
